R.I.P. Clive Burr… We at the HOH are so sad to report that Clive Burr died in his sleep yesterday. Many of us at HOH knew Clive and he was a terrific guy as well as an awesome drummer.
Here’s what Dee Snider had to say about his friend Clive:
After a long battle with MS, my dear friend Clive Burr passed away in his sleep last night. We worked together on a project called Desperado from 1988-1990 and shared some great times, and sadly forgotten musical moments. I’m blessed to have spoken to him a couple of days ago on his birthday, shared some memories and a few smiles. A rock n roll legend has been lost, and the world of music is less because of it. RIP Clive and “hit ’em hard” in rock n roll heaven. – Dee Snider
Clive Burr, the former drummer of Iron Maiden, died last night at the age of 56. Burr had been suffering from multiple sclerosis, and he died in his sleep.
“This is terribly sad news,” said Maiden founder/bassist Steve Harris on the group’s official site. “Clive was a very old friend of all of us. He was a wonderful person and an amazing drummer who made a valuable contribution to Maiden in the early days when we were starting out. This is a sad day for everyone in the band and those around him and our thoughts and condolences are with his partner Mimi and family at this time.”
