Lillian Axe had to cancel a couple of gigs last week after a very serious car accident that destroyed their equipment but fortunately left two band members and two others with only minor injuries.
Guitarist Steve Blaze posted a first-hand account of the harrowing crash: “Around 5 a.m., an hour from our location, I was awakened, (I had fallen asleep in the front passenger seat) by Richie’s [Richard Plaisance, stage manager] screams and a very hard impact, the sound of breaking glass and our vehicle hurtling towards something else that through the broken windshield appeared to be a pole of sorts. I keep replaying this moment in my head over and over, and I can hear the sounds and feel the crash every time. I remember while we were hitting things and moving across the grass, that I kept saying “ It’s ok, It’s ok, It’s ok…….”
Our driver had lost control of the vehicle and left the highway doing around 70 mph and collided with a huge industrial sign, the ones that direct traffic into a certain lane with arrows….” Read Steve’s entire post here.
So that’s where our taxpayer money goes! Police in Las Vegas are investigating their own following an epic marriage proposal by Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba to his girlfriend, Nathalia, that involved a helicopter ride over the city last weekend.
DJ posted this photo of himself and his now-fiancee and thanked the LVPD by saying, “That was the most incredible day of our life!! Special thx to the Las Vegas Police Dept. for the most amazing helicopter private tour over Vegas! We landed in a field at Police headquarters were I had a table set up covered in roses ‘n a bottle of the bubble stuff for [Nathalia] as we walked up to the table and [his sister, Kari] slipped me the ring, and thats when I proposed! It was beautiful she didn’t expect a thing, it was magical. And thanks to our good friends for helping making it all happen!!”
The Las Vegas Police Department later acknowledged publicly that two civilians were granted a ride-along in a helicopter, but no details were given. Said a police spokesman, “An internal affairs investigation has been initiated to determine if any department policies or regulations were violated in granting this ride-along.”
Here’s the lyric video from Skid Row’s “This Is Killing Me.” The song will be on the band’s recently released EP, United World Rebellion – Chapter One.
Remember the rumors that Aerosmith was considering kicking out frontman Steven Tyler back in 2010 when the singer accepted a gig as a judge on American Idol? Guitarist Brad Whitford talked to Rock Cellar magazine about what really happened: “We just felt like we couldn’t just let the band fall apart,” he said. “It never went any further than kind of talking about it. We spoke to maybe one or two singers about the idea but that was about as far as it went. I don’t think anybody in the band was terribly keen about getting in a new lead singer. I think we were all just thinking about survival at that point. We weren’t ready to give up on the band.”
Shouldn’t that have been “Patience?”
Guitar great Slash recently tweeted about Lemmy Kilmister, not long after the Motörhead frontman had to cut the band’s set short due to ongoing health issues.
Queen guitarist Brian May has beat Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler to the operating table to get a knee replacement.
A couple of weeks ago, May, who had his right knee replaced, posted on his website, “I’m THROUGH! With a shiny new knee. This is no walk in the park (!) but for 1st time in months I feel optimistic and free of that OLD pain. Thanks so much for the great messages — it means a lot. Bri zzzzz.” Steven recently announced he would be going under the knife for a similar procedure later this year.
Glenn Danzig (along with special guest Cherie Currie of The Runaways) has covered the Lee Hazelwood/Nancy Sinatra classic “Some Velvet Morning” for his upcoming covers album due out later this year.
Other classic tunes that will get the Danzig treatment include ones from Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Elvis Presley and more. Check out a stream of the killer clone by Danzig/Currie.
Check out singer Todd La Torre out in front of Queensrÿche doing the band’s “Queen Of The Reich” (originally recorded with singer Geoff Tate).
After three studio albums, TNT singer Tony Mills has parted ways with the Norwegian rockers. Is former vocalist Tony Harnell soon to return to the mic for the band? Stay tuned…
