Dokken frontman Don Dokken has teamed up with legendary guitarist Michael Schenker to record a tune called “Faith.” You can hear a snippet of the tune at the 16:32 mark of this recent edition of the Dropping The Needle podcast hosted by Michael Brandvold. BuzzChic usually likes her metal plugged in and played so loud her ears bleed, thankyouverymuch – but wow, the song sounds pretty cool…Don’s voice over Schenker’s melody sounds like an old, traditional folk-song. Give it a listen.
Don says he’s taken a few other songs from Schenker’s three instrumental acoustic albums Thank You, Vol. 1, 2 and 3 and is working on vocal tracks to go with them. “It’s going to be fun,” said Don to Glide Magazine recently. “He’s a great guy and he put out a few acoustic CDs. I saw him last month in Bulgaria and he says, ‘Don, we’ve always been talking about doing an acoustic record.’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ So he gave me a couple of his albums that are just instrumental and I said, ‘Why don’t I take them home and see if I can write lyrics and sing over the songs?’ And it’s coming out really great. It’s not rock; it’s a kind of chill record.”
