Headbangers + Rockers React to Donald Trump Being Elected President
In a stunning upset, Donald Trump has been declared the winner of the 2016 presidential election and rockers have taken to social media to weigh in on the results.
Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan offered a succinct appraisal early in the morning in response to the news.
As expected, outspoken Trump supporter Ted Nugent is pleased with the prospect of a Trump White House, telling fans on a Facebook Live session rant, “I’m actually a little teary-eyed this morning. We declared our independence, and we told Hillary Clinton we don’t accept liars, scammers, thieves and rotten freedom-hating, constitution hating, conniving criminals to be President. Thank you America, good going. Good work!”
Michael Sweet of Stryper had a bit less over-the-top pro-Trump tweet,
Reactions from rockers ran the gamut from stunned to angry to ready to move on. A few rockers stressed the need for healing the country’s split, and moving on together.
Mötley Crüe Sued For $30 Million By Opening Band The Raskins After Pranks & Tour Abuse
New York-based The Raskins, the band that supported Mötley Crüe on their farewell tour are suing the now retired act for $30 million.
The Raskins alleged that they were treated badly on the 2014 tour including an incident in Darien, Connecticut, where members of Mötley Crüe’s road crew supposedly ran out on stage in monkey masks and sprayed The Raskins “with water guns filled with urine.”
The New York Post reports that The Raskins – made up of brothers Logan and Roger Raskin said they put up with months of similar pranks after paying $1 million to secure the support band slot. The Raskins said issues during the tour include being forced to play short sets in frequently empty venues as tour managers refused to open doors on time, that PA systems were turned off or interfered with during their sets, they were denied the right to sell merchandise or to use dressing rooms and both band members were hit with heavy equipment during some pranks.
No word yet from the Crüe camp on the allegations.
Metallica + Colombian Fan Club Collect Nine Tons of Food to Benefit Indigenous Peoples
Metallica asked concertgoers to bring nonperishable goods to their recent November 1 Bogota, Columbia gig, and the effort brought in nine tons (18,000 lbs!) of food for disadvantaged children and abandoned animals.
According to RNC Radio, the initiative began with a Colombian Metallica fan club called Lords of Hardwire, intended to benefit the indigenous Wayuú community in La Guajira. Sadly, more than 4,770 Wayuú children have died in the last eight years from malnourishment and dehydration.
Humans won’t be the only ones benefiting from this massive influx of food. Some of the gathered goods will also be given to the Challenger and Furry Hearts charities, an independent network of 40 families who help feed abandoned animals and find them forever homes.

KIX “Can’t Stop The Show DVD” Is #1 On Billboard Chart This Week
Maryland hard rock icons, Kix, topped the Billboard Top Music Video Sales chart this week with their release, Can’t Stop The Show: The Return Of Kix, a two-disc DVD/CD set. It’s the band’s highest charting debut ever in their 35-year history. The 71-minute film offers an in-depth look into Kix’s decision to record their first new album, 2014’s Rock Your Face Off, in almost 20 years.
“We have always known from the way our passionate fans treat us that we are number one with them,” said bassist Mark Schenker. “We have always enjoyed that mutual love fest. And now, to have our fans lift us to #1 on the Billboard Music Video Chart is by far the greatest honor that they can bestow upon our band. We are grateful for this testimony of dedication. This perfectly illustrates that ‘fan’ is short for fanatic, and this is absolutely true when it comes to Kix fans. We are most certainly humbled beyond words!”
The DVD also features the making of the album from bassist Mark Schenker’s studio, interviews with the band as well as notable rock artists such as Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm, Jeff LaBar of Cinderella, Share Ross of Vixen, Shannon Larkin of Godsmack, and more. It also includes a rare appearance by producer Taylor Rhodes (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Kix, Hot Wire).

Ozzy Osbourne Reveals Origins Of Prince Of Darkness Nickname
Ozzy Osbourne says that the track “Black Sabbath” is “the scariest song ever written.” The song led off their self-titled 1970 debut album – and Ozzy says without that song, he wouldn’t have been given his famous nickname.
Ozzy told NME: “When we started gigging way back when, as soon as we started playing this song’s opening chords, young girls in the audience would f***ing freak out. They thought we were Satan’s f***ing friends or something.
“That’s when the whole Prince Of Darkness sh*t started. When people get excited about Halloween coming around each year, all I think is, ‘Well, we used to have Halloween every f***ing night.'”
James Hetfield Judges Celebrities Wearing Metallica Shirts
Heavy metal imagery has become a fashion statement in recent years. It has become commonplace to see celebrities rocking shirts from bands like Slayer, Iron Maiden and Metallica regardless of whether they even listen to these bands. BuzzFeed Mexico pointed this out to Metallica’s James Hetfield, who sat down and reacted on video to shots of celebrities sporting Metallica threads.
Hetfield is admittedly not the best at identifying these celebrities, at least by name, which makes the game even more fun. Up first is Mary-Kate Olsen, who is seen with a “Damage Inc.” shirt and the frontman questions whether she is an actual fan, and Ryan Gosling, whom Hetfield recognized but can’t name. He also runs through shots of Taylor Momsen (The Pretty Reckless), calling her “goth Madonna” and notes the similarities between her hair and bassist Robert Trujillo’s. As he holds up a picture of Avril Lavigne, he jokes, “That’s the singer for Nickelback, right?”
We’re sure there will be plenty of new Metallica merch for celebs to wear with the pending release of Metallica’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct on November 18.
Metalheads Say The Damnedest Things
“I didn’t really know what I was doing back then, and I didn’t really want the gig.
“They wanted someone to replace Ace, but I think they wanted someone who worshipped them. I liked their music – but I wasn’t into them in a big way.” Citing his preference for Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, B.B. King and others, he adds: “I just thought it would be a good thing to go along and give it a go. I didn’t feel like wearing any of their makeup, that’s for sure.”
~ Richie Sambora in recent interview, claiming he really didn’t want to be part of KISS. Sambora tried out as potential replacement for Ace Frehley in 1983.
