Testament recently released their new album, Brotherhood Of The Snake. In this new video segment from FaceCulture, vocalist Chuck Billy discusses lyrical topics for the new album:
On the last few records American thrash metal band Testament wrote about real things, like losing your parents or getting ill. They were trying to get away from the “cliché metal lyrics about gloom, doom, cemeteries, and zombies” says lead singer Chuck Billy.
But when the writing for their eleventh album Brotherhood of the Snake began they simply wanted cool stories. Inspired by a documentary called Ancient Aliens Billy delved into aliens, religion, and secret societies. “That set the ball rolling on where we wanted to go and lyrically create something not so real. But it could be real. We’re talking about reality but it’s so far fetched to believe that you can make up a story with it.
