Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has committed suicide.
TMZ reports Bennington was home alone at the time of the suicide. We’re told his family was out of town and he was found upstairs by an employee. Law enforcement sources told TMZ the singer hung himself at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County. His body was discovered Thursday just before 9 AM.
Bennington was best known as the frontman for the rock band Linkin Park, and he was also the lead singer for Dead by Sunrise and fronted Stone Temple Pilots from 2013 to 2015. Chester was married with 6 children from wives Talinda Ann Bentley (m. 2005) and Samantha Marie Olit (m. 1996–2005). The singer struggled with drugs and alcohol for years. He had said in the past he had considered committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male.
Chester was very close with Chris Cornell, who committed suicide by hanging in May. Today would have been Cornell’s 53rd birthday.
Chester tweeted this open letter to Chris on the day of Chris’ suicide,
With all of my love @chriscornell. pic.twitter.com/NFz0dnxfp8

and he also dedicated this song to Cornell.
