Jon Bon Jovi received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from the University of Pennsylvania on Monday, May 20 during Penn’s 263rd Commencement at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, the Asbury Park Press reported.
During the commencement, the musician, who was born just an hour away in Middlesex County, New Jersey, was lauded for his musical success as well as his humanitarian efforts by university president Amy Gutmann. The singer also got an honoris causa salute when a chorus of grads erupted into “Livin’ on a Prayer”.
