Snider Says He Isn’t Sure If Or When He Will Return
Dee Snider says that he is “taking a break” from performing live — and he isn’t sure if and when he will return, revealing in an Instagram post that he has no plans to hit the concert stage for the foreseeable future.
“Well, now that my summer shows are over, I can tell you that I’m taking a break from concert performing for a while,” Dee said in a video message on September 11. “I’ve got no more concerts the rest of this year. 2020, I’m clearing the boards there as well. We’ll see what happens after that. In the meantime, you’ll see me around — I’ll be popping up here or there; I’ll be doing a song or something with other people — but as far as concerts go, that’s gotta take a break. I’m working on my novel, I’ve got some movies in production, television shows, things like that, and I’ve got some family situations to take care of. Everything’s cool, but I’ve gotta take care of the home fires every now and then. So, [I’m] not sure when I’ll be back on the concert stage — if I’ll be back; we’ll see — but I’m taking a break for a while.”
Snider has spent much of the past year playing shows in support of his latest solo album, “For The Love Of Metal”, which came out July, 2018. He previously announced that he was thinking about making a follow-up record, also to be produced by Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta.
In a separate interview with Distorted Sound, Snider said that he has found his place in the contemporary music scene with “For The Love Of Metal”. “I’m so happy to be doing this,” he said. “This record defines me as a person who wants to feel vital what I’m doing now matters and counts. I’m so happy I thought there wasn’t that place in music for me. I’ve been doing Broadway, radio, TV, movies, I’ve been finding my place now with other things that I’ve been doing, but my first love is metal and music, and to do a record that I feel is a place now… My wife said she hasn’t seen me this happy in a long time, and I’m always happy. She said I have an odd, childlike glee. It’s crazy. I know, I’m [64] and not that I feel it. I’m healthy, people see me rock and their minds are blowing. I didn’t think at this point in my life, this would be happening.”
