The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund will hold a star-studded virtual fundraiser on what would have been the heavy-metal firebrand’s 79th birthday, July 10.
The fundraiser will span the world, bringing celebrities and fans together to honor Ronnie’s undeniable impact, both on and off the stage. Featuring never-before-seen musical performances and stories from the artists that worked with and worshiped Ronnie – as well as rare archival footage from his long-spanning career – this can’t-miss evening will pay tribute to the legendary frontman for Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio by raising funds for a worthy cause.
The event will feature rare archival footage of Dio from throughout his life, plus guest performances, interviews, and birthday wishes from Tony Iommi, Dio and Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice, Lita Ford, Glenn Hughes, Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna, and Testament’s Chuck Billy, among many others. It will take place on RollingLiveStudios.com at 5 p.m. ET.
The charity, which is selling merch associated with the event, will be offering signed copies of Rainbow in the Dark: The Autobiography, which Dio wrote with his widow and manager Wendy Dio and journalist Mick Wall.
A variety of ticket packages are now on sale for the event.
The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, dedicated to cancer prevention, research and education, has raised over $2 million since it launched.
