SONG: Queensryche – The Lady Wore Black
Dee – Back in the day, there were so many great bands it was hard to narrow them down to a short-list of favorites. But one that would definitely make my list is Queensryche. With the classic metal stylings of front-man Geoff Tate, their old stuff is some of the best early ’80’s progressive metal. One of the best from that era is “The Lady Wore Black”. It really shows off Tate’s range and it introduced us all to one of the sounds that would dominate the metal scene for the next 2 decades. And interestingly, if memory (and Wikipedia) serves me correctly, their initial national tour was partially as an opener for another of the early greats, Twisted Sister. But you already know that. In tribute to the great frontmen of the ’80’s (including yourself), please play this for me. BTW: I love your outrageous work of the same period!! Thanks in advance!
